Why is it? 7 VS 5

Seems like everything for sale on craigslist and ebay, etc.... are always for the 7. Why is this? I have a 5 and want some of the cool stuff but then read the ad and it is always for a 7. Why is this????

LOL around here I cant hardly find a 7 or even a YJ to work with (that someone hasn't dipped in invisible GOLD)..I feel your pain.
The 5 is the bas child of the short wheelbase jeeps, IMO. especially the intermediates. I may have to start building my own stuff for sale one of these days

Well all that is around here is them daggum 7s, our little 5s are certainly the red headed step children of the jeep family. Like doors and tops and stuff, I love used stuff and simply cant afford the new stuff that is available.

One reason may be CJ5 's never came with a hard top or hard doors.

i am talking just in general. Every ad it seems that I run across for used cj equipment, after getting into it to read it, it is for the 7. I guess it is just a more popular platform, but why?

With the exception of the top and doors most everything else is interchangeable between the 5 and 7.

7's are the same dimensions as the YJ so the parts are more available since the YJ was built up until 95. Also the newest CJ5 is from 1983 so they just are not worth the R&D time for companies to make parts for such a small amount of sales.
