why wouuld my front drive shaft turn by its self?

In 2wd the front d.shaft sometimes turns, it doesn't get up to speed like its in 4wd hi though. I noticed this because I drove the jeep when I got home without the tranny pan on the floor.

I played with the transfer shifter (which has a lot of wear) and got it to intermittently stay still while driving.

Is this a big problem?

Oh p.s- the front lockers (warn) are definately disengaged.

It'll do that from time to time its normal, just because parts aren't locked together doesn't mean they don't touch. A light turn on the axle shafts is enough to make the driveshaft spin at speed.
