1976 CJ7 Jeep with a engine/tranny/wiring harness out of a 1988 s10 blazer 4.3l v6 with th700r4 automatic tranny and a cj7 Dana 300 transfer case with Novak adapter.
Complete wiring harness from the s10 blazer. Painted with HOT PINK Pearl paint with standard sized metallic halographic pink flakes. Painted by me -a newb. New rear, front and side three wire LED lights, New parts, new custom dash-by me And a lot of guidance from fellow jeepers and lots of prayers etc.... :p

Hi,

I am curious whether a CJ8 scrambler half hardtop and bulkhead will fit a 76 CJ7 jeep? The jeep has the eariler style roll bar so I don't thinkit will be in the way...
I am also considering the yj half hard doors with hard (fiberglass) slider windows... (My classic --cute-- full sized doors are a mess... not only are the regulators busted but the metal sheets look bolted, yes, that's right, bolted together to keep from coming apart...)
Anyone know if I would need to fab the bulkhead or doors to fit the CJ7 ?

If anyone has completed a modification that is similar or exact, PLEASE post pics.

I may be wrong... But I think I read somewhere you have to remove the rollbar to make that application work.

Not sure on the Scrambler cab...I considered doing this but didnt do the research. That is back on the shelf as I am getting ready to build a cage that probably wont accommodate the half-cab.
The YJ doors will work, you will just have to change out the strikers on the pillars.

I ran a CJ8 hard half top on my 1986 CJ7 . it and the bulkhead fit good. Had to remove the roll bar and build a new one. I only ran half doors so dont know about doors.

I'd love to buy a NEW half hardtop but its not financially feasible at the time.. Hopefully I can find someone who wants to sell or trade their top... :)

This is a yes and no IIRC...

Hard top YJ full doors will fit a CJ7 hard top but if your CJ is an '81 or older you will need to modify the tub a bit and install YJ-style striker plates for the doors. The rotary type latches fronm the older CJ7 's do not interchange. Also, IIRC, YJ half hard doors/soft uppers have a square corner not a rounded one on the top corner furthest from the windshield. You need the right corner shape to match the top.

All YJ doors should fit the tub of any CJ7 originally equipped with paddle-style door handles which, again I think , began in '82. Again, the soft top doors and hard top doors only fit their intended top IIRC.

Do you know if yj Half hard doors and Half hard fiberglass slider upper doors will fit a CJ7 with half hard top? Or is this just wrong? (I currently have the stock full hard doors with chrome door handle on my 76 but they are VERY heavy to take off... I figure I could always bulk up but I really don't want to since I am a girl.. :bounce:

I may have found a half cab with bulk head. They both appear to be in good shape. However the glass is out of the cab. The guy does have the gasket.
How much do these go for used in relatively good shape?

YJ half upper sliders from Bestop fit! others are oversized to lap over soft tops. I would try before I buy.
The striker you want is actually from 81-86 CJ7 's or CJ8 's. The YJ striker plate is just enough different to make it hard to fit the body.

All years of YJ's fit ANY year of CJ7 's. The difference is the door strikes.
TJ doors also fit YJ's and CJ7 's. The door IS the same accept the striker.

I purchased a half cab and bulkhead... The Half hard top fits my 76 CJ7 PERFECTLY and works with my full steel doors... However, the bulkhead is too narrow.. :(
After further research, I found out that the tubs made from 76-79 are different from the tubs made from 80-86... So now I have to figure out how to close the side gaps from the tub to the bulkhead.

If anyone has had experience with this please let me know how you fixed the issue.. I don't have a welder, so, any ideas for someone without a welder would be great..

I am thinking of BENDING the metal edges out so it can attach to the wheel well... But don't want to ruin it..

Hope to hear from da experts soon. :).

Would you know if the Fiberglass hard uppers from yj will work with the CJ8 half hard top? And- :ty: for sharing your wisdom with me.. ::notworthy:
