Hey All,

Have a broken on off switch on a 9k Superwinch (unsure of the exact model, as I am at work right now) that broke off today when I attempted to use the winch to move a tree.

The switch is located near the plug in for the remote, on the passenger side of the solenoid cover. Anyone know a way to repair/replace this switch, or better yet, improve the set up so this cant happen again?

I am no genius when it comes to electricity either..thanks! :chug:

That switch is a new one on me, the only switch I know of is the one for freespooling. Any chance on getting a pic on that? Like it may be a PO add on.

...I can try to get a pic on here in next few days...but, does the On/Off just mean free spooling is on or off? Would be a good reason I could spool the cable out, but couldnt reel it back in.

I'm pretty foggy on exactly what part you have that's broken but, Goodwinch.com has exploded diagrams of both, first and second series' of the 9X Superwinch. You could look those diagrams over, scroll down the page to locate the part that matches the number on the diagram and then get in touch with Superwinch to see if the part is available.

If you broke the clutch knob or lever, Superwinch has them. The knob is about $26.00.

Hope the diagrams help.

The part that is broke is #72 & 73 in the drawing at this link;
Superwinch X9 Assembly First Series - Goodwinch

It was a red switch held in a by a screw, with ON/OFF imprinted into the plastic cover of the solenoid, so it was not a PO add on..like the genius bypass of the check valve on the fuel system, which poured gas out almost as fast as I put it in...anyway...

Now, does anyone know if this is simply a "plug and play" deal, or more involved? The plastic broke off inside the solenoid cover, and the screw holding it in is in the weeds.

And lastly, does anyone know if there is a way to improve the set up so this dont happen again? Even though it was probably just brittle from sun...
Thanks to hdgapeach for the help in pointing this out. :chug:
I am nearing the end of a stint of night shifts, so will be able to actually do some work on this thing over the weekend.

From what I can see it is the plug in for the winch controller and its hold down screw. Your repair options could involve getting parts from an electronic parts house and hardware store, getting creative and making your own improvements, or calling the manufacturer and getting replacement parts and info. Disassembly does not seem all that complicated, just watch what you are doing. Hope you were able to move that tree O.K.

Looking at the associated #75 & #76, I'd say it's probably a five minute job (yeah, right....Ain't they all :rolleyes:). Screws to the cover and the other end attaches with a washer and nut. Want her looking "new", check with Superwinch and see if they still provide those part numbers. Good luck!

Thanks RAAAR1, glad I was able to assist!
