I give up. How so I remove my wiper arms from the spindles?

I ran into the same quandary when I replaced my windshield.

My arms finally popped off with the help of a large screw driver and a 2x4 for leverage.

Not sure if this is the right way, but I was able to put them back on and they still work.

Get under it with a long screwdriver or pry bar and lightly pry up oposite the arm. pull up by arm and pry at the same time.

Thank you both... I was afraid of that, but was hoping for some little retractable snap ring that would allow them to pop right off.

My wiper motor is junked and I'm not going to replace it while I have this tub, so RainX just became my wipers. The wipers I have just flop around in the wind as the springs are broke/gone/weak whatever so off they come.

some arms,(I don't remember if cj's have them but I know yj's do) have a small round hole that you can stick a small round punch in to release the arm..otherwise you can take a small screw driver to pry the spring loaded clip back, under the wiper arm, while you pull it off

I pry mine with a piece of 1/4" hard wood just to keep from scratching the paint. I think this requires at least one damaged finger nail to complete. Putting them back on is almost as much fun. One notch off is about 2" at the end of the wiper.:D

The problem is the spring that holds them against the windshield causes them to bind on the shaft when you try to remove them. Pull the windshield wipers all the way back so they stay away from the windshield on their own and then I have always been able to just pull them off by hand.

Sounds like a business opportunity for you tool fabricators out there.

Never had a problem using a flat head screwdriver, but sure. At the service station I worked at 25 yrs ago we had the tool that I am sure is available at sears as mentioned just above.
