Hey all,

I just joined a few days ago and am loving all the info! THANKS!

In the process of getting an 83' CJ7 together and need the wiper motor to work:

It is a 4 wire; I don't have any idea of where the motor plugs into (whomever had the jeep before me really did a number on the wiring harness, among other things...post pics soon) I want to know what the motor plugs into?

Also am looking for info on the components for the sprayers?

Thanks for the assistance,

Rob

Sounds like you need a wiring schematic and the other accessories like a soldering gun, solder, and heat shrink tube for correcting your modified wiring system.

The schematic I have doesn't show the wiper motor, and it looks to be pre 83 as well. If there is a better one someone has out that that would be greatly appreciated! As for the other stuff got it and am putting it to goo use. Thanks

Rob

on my 84 CJ7 the plug on the wiper runs down to the steering column were there is a connection plug that mounts on the lower column and will plug there ,that connection I believe ties in with the ignition and wiper switch , its been awhile since I had mine apart but that is were it should go

The 3 wires from the motor go strait to the wiper switch on the dash.

BusDave9,

I found this pic that helped me out a ton..

I am missing this piece

You mentioned in another one of my threads that I may have a motor swap...your right, I think the jeep I have was pieced together; now its up to me, with help from anyone who will lend me advice to correct many things with this vehicle.

ZionJeeps, it appears that the '83 came with a 3 wire motor and you have the 4 wire version. To make this work, it seems you will need a 4 wire wiper switch to make it work, at least thats the way I see it. Either that or you could do some fancy wiring to make it work.

well then how about this one.....ever replaced a wiper switch? Some look like they have a plastic piece around the connectors and others do not.....is there a difference?

My '86 has the four wire wiper motor and the switch has 7 wires. There is a fancy plug in the back for the switch and the knob has to be removed so the switch can come out. There was an option for an intermittent wiper, but I don't have that. I do have a four page schematic for my CJ in "My Gallery" but it is quite hard to read unless you have some good computer skills to blow it up.

I was just gonna say "how do I know which 4 to use?" You're right the schematic is too small to read. I'll look elsewhere but thanks this actually helps. oh, yeah....is there a difference between the two types? With and without the plastic ring around the hookups?
