Ok so I drove my jeep a few times after I had the cap n rotor replaced and then drove it in the rain. Apparently my jeep doesn't like the rain because it died on me and wouldn't start.Ater I got it home I let it sit for a week to dry out and it still won't Start. I started troubleshooting and found I don't have spark. The factory ignition module (black box on drivers side) was never hooked up so I started tracing wires the best I could. I have no ignition module that I can see, their is no middle wire on the distributor that would even go to one. I have a vacuum line, an electrical wire that comes from the harness,ad the 4 spark plug wires that go to the cylinders.I took the cap off and everything seems normal.Te jeep will crank but not start. It ran before on multiple occasions.I have NO idea how this thing ever started,if it never started before I'd say because of no module but it ran before and after the cap n rotor replacement.Ay idea?

I think you should start by cleaning the distributor cap inside and out. Water can short it out quite easily and maybe it is still wet. For your wiring, there are schematics out there.

I'll clean it out but where is my spark coming from? I thought there was another part that sent spark to the distributor?

Connect a voltmeter to the positive side of the coil and ground, turn on the key.

You should have around 6v if you don't the issue is somewhere between the ignition switch and coil.

when you say coil you mean the actual distributor right? because like i said their is nothing going to the distributor other than a vacuum line and i think one electrical line. the 4 cylinder wires come off from the sides but their is no plug wire in the middle going to a coil to speak of like on every other car i've seen with a distributor.

4 cylinders, you have an HEI distributor. The one wire going to the distributor should be 12v.

ok i just talked to somebody else and they said it's an all in one piece just like you said. im going to disconnect that wire and hook it to a volt meter or test light to check it. so if im getting this right then if the light works the distributor is bad and if the light doesn't work then i have a fault somewhere in the wire/before?

If you do have power to the distributor one of the issues could be the ignition control module inside the distributor.
