Did you ever get the problem resolved? I've got a similar scenario. The jeep will crank, but just won't fire. It sounds like the engine is flooded and the power begins to weaken the longer you crank.

I've checked the battery (87% life), replaced the starter, checked the solenoid, checked the primary and secondary resistance at the coil. Still won't fire. Next up is changing out all the spark plugs, but they look like they are brand new. Anyone have any ideas?
