What's your thoughts on this. I have a lot of sheet metal repair to do on the tub. I've been looking at tube frames with sheet metal welded to it. I know I want to get rid of the heavy diamond plate steel floor a PO had put in. I think this may be the way to go. It cant be as expensive as a new tub, right?

start by checking the price of DOM tube and 18 ga. sheet metal.I would be looking for a used tub even if it was going to have to be shipped or you were going to have to go pick it up.

check this guy he may have something for you.

What about buying and replacing just the panels needed? Not sure how available they are for the 72 vintage though.

exactly, hard to find in my area. Got to looking at the bottom of the tub this morning...terrible shape. Not looking forward to what I will find under the mud and rust. Now I know why one of the PO's welded steel plate for the floor panels.

i did my CJ7 from the dash back. took all winter. wheel wells, all floors, sides, had to buy rear corners.

If your willing to put forth the time and money to build a tube skeleton and wrap it in sheet metal; you should be able go to Classic Ent. and buy the body parts to replace the problem areas. I've even seen, not on Classic's site but a place that sells the entire floor panel as one piece.

this is exactly what i decided to do. i'm keeping from the dash forward.

a little welding at time. let cool down. use doors to keep things in line.you can make it better.think it out a head . use self tappers to hold down metal than weld. you tube can help.:notworthy:
