YJ bumper on a CJ

So, found an ARB bull bar on CL. Only applications are for YJ's that have a wider frame from what i have read.

Anyone ever try to adapt a YJ bumper to a CJ?

I found this smittybuilt adapter, anyone ever try it?

I really don't understand that adapter, I have compared oem bumpers for CJ and YJ and the only difference I noticed was the hole spacing.
