The following is probably a dumb question.

My quadra trac T case had a leak at the front output yoke... While my tranny was off being rebuilt, I disassembled the Transfer Case , and put a seal/gasket set in it. I just put the Transfer Case back in tonight, filled it up with ATF, and there is already damn drip coming from the front yoke.

The question is this: could there be there enough wear on the O.D. of the yoke stem (where it is supposed to make good contact with the seal ) that it could cause a faulty seal? It would seem unlikely to me that it is leaking between the metal seal "frame" and the Transfer Case housing. But it seems equally unlikely that the contact area at the rubber seal would wear. But all I know is there is now a small puddle of ATF under it and I am too tired to lay there and watch it drip. I havent even started the engine yet and already have a drip!!! AARG!!

Before I put on skid plate and driveshafts, I guess I'm now looking to replace the front yoke?

any thoughts are welcome...

You can also get a sleeve that fits on the yoke to make a new seal area. One brand is a Speedy Sleeve. If you can get one it's cheaper than a new yoke. I have had good luck with them for years.

thanks purple....

Where did you get yours?
Just looked at 4wd hardware, 4wd.com, pep boys, ebay, jcwhitney and struck out everywhere... (speedy sleeve boys underwear came up on ebay search, but that is totally different LOL)

"speedi sleeve"

Now i found it...
thanks purple for the info

I have bought them at NAPA before, it depends on size. I have had better luck at a bearing outlet, that specializes in bearings and seals.

I've used them on the front crank seal with good luck.
