I don't know if this is the right forum. I need help identifing a york compressor.

1985 CJ7 , don't know if it was factory or not. Who the he11 puts air on a jeep anyways? Is this junk?

Just wanted to know if this would be compatible for a conversion too an air compressor.

not too sure about that one, they usually use the vertically mounted ones for the air compressor conversion

No, that compressor is not factory. The factory compressor that was used was the Sanden (SD-508) which was a non-oiled rotary style compressor mounted horizontally.

By contrast, the York compressors were factory on FSJ's...that's where most people source them for OBA conversions.

I run my York horizontally...they perform equally well whether vertical or horizontally. Fitment can be an issue on some engines running them straight up and down...like on my 401 for instance.
