Street Jeep for snow and ice, still on blocks in the driveway. '73 CJ5, 258 inline six, T18 tranny, Model 20 transfer case, Dana 30/44 w/ 4.27 ratio (soon to be 3.73), original Cutlas hubs, half-cab waiting to be installed. Daily driver is a 20-year-old Mazda pickup.
My experience with "real" fog lights was in a very heavy fog, and they glared as much as my headlights. Many years later I was in a heavy snowstorm--so heavy that my headlights were blinding me as they hit the thick snowflakes. I turned off the headlights and turned on my flashers. I was impressed by how clearly I could see when the amber lights blinked on.

So I'm thinking that the ultimate fog light might be the "high beam" on an aftermarket park/turn light. I'd like to hear your experiences and recommendations.

"Real" Fog lights ARE yellow...those other white ones are just extra lights...

Yup, and my yellow fog lights were as glaring as my headlights--just not as white. But that was in fog, not blinding snow.

Wait a sec...how do your Angel Eye (or Halo) rings work in fog or snow?!

Last summer I found a set of glass hella fog lights 75watt it's like having X-ray vision. As for the "fog" lights found on most new cars... I drive around 100,000 miles a year for almost 23 years now. these lights as well as HID , projector and blue bulbs are at best annoying and sometimes dangerous from temporary blinding at night not to mention law enforcement and dot workers that for some reason have to have 10 million watt strobes for "safety" nothing says safety like not being able to see! And nevermind this fascination with flashing the high beams to let someone know they can pull back in,yeah that helps thanks now I can't see anything in front of me. Never mind the people who think the adjustment screws are decorations or the ones who think the blue indicator on the dash means a chance of rain.
And while we're at it whose bright "no pun" idea was it to put aircraft landing lights at head level on plow trucks in blinding snow?

Here in Massachusetts there seems to be a rash of collisions with people running into parked State Trooper cars. One theory is that the tons of flashing lights are drawing high-speed drunks right into the patrol cars.

Is this the type of fog light you have? It says Hella, and there's a 75 in the part number: Hella FF75 Fog Lamps Lights Kit w Jeep Logo New | eBay

I could see that happening. It dosent help when they leave the left rear bumper sticking out in the travel lane. Anyway the ones I found are 6" round with flat glass lenses circa 1980 or so picture Audi 5000 Quattro ralley car. Btw Plymouth? Lived on the cape from the age of nothing till 18 when I joined the army lil sister still lives in Reading others in centerville and Brewster mom lived in Hyannis till she took the cowards way out last year and had a heart attack now she lives on top of the fridge in Ohio.

Apparently they are model 162 Hellas circa 1960 and some nut wants $599.00 for his set ????? On eBay . If I could get for my stuff what everyone else gets for theirs I could build another jeep and have other stuff.

Sorry closer inspection says sevmarchal model 810 sold on the bay for 244.00 a set ! Propane conversion here we come!

I dont know never had them in snow or fog here in Sunny PHX AZ I had yellow/orange Halos on my 57 Dodge for awhile before changing them to blue, they were bright but I wouldn't think bright enough to be driving off of by themselves. maybe a L.E.D. conversion can be done, I have thought of that. more just to make them more noticeable in daytime.

I have heard from a few of my buddys I work with that did rally racing in subarus when they were stationed in england (Foggy mess) they said the key to fog lights is where to point the beam...Not sure about where to point it but you might want to play with that in real dence fog.

My experience with them is you want to mount them low and they will light the road up better.
