Are the filler neck locations and hoses the same between the 20 gallon plastic tank and the 15 gallon steel tank? I am looking at swapping in the Holley Sniper tank and pump kit for my LS swap to replace my inline pump that sounds like a dying animal. I have the 20 gallon tank now.

Additionally, it looks like the stew 15 gallon tank has two ports on the passenger side. Can one be used for the return line from the LS?

I did the MTS 21 gallon tank swap. Everything was the same except the larger tank hangs lower

I hit my tank on rocks a lot so I don’t want to hang any lower.

I installed Holley Sniper 15 gal tank. Looks identical to the old stock 15 gal tank I removed. I thought it might be a bit different than the old tank because it was for FI setup. Which I plan to install someday, but it's not.
The 2 small hose connections are for rollover valve and evap can. So yes one could be used as a return instead of the stock purpose. I believe the intank pump in the pic doesn't need a return, it's built in.

Are you planning on using the LS injection? I believe the intank pump for the Sniper may not provide enough pressure.

I spoke with Holley today and ended up ordering stuff. The Holley pump is ideal for stock LS injection; however, it is not happy if you use the return style fuel rail (pre-‘05). I bought an ‘05+ fuel rail that is returnless along with a remote rollover valve and a max-bilt fuel tank skid plate. Fingers crossed it should all work together. The Holley tech said it will.

That's good to know, I have read conflicting comments on the Holley pump and the LS FI so that clears that up.
I bought the MTS tank shield, looked just like the old one but not rusted out.

If anyone needs a factory 20 gallon tank with skid plate and functioning sending unit, let me know. I will be selling mine with the Holley changeover.

Someone refresh my memory on the difference between a 76-77 fuel tank and a 78-86 tank... I'm thinking filler was different...? That it?
