Build Thread 1979 CJ7 Renegade
I'd be checking the torque on those model 20 axle nuts if doesn't have a one piece axle conversion. Those big swampers tend to help them loosen up over time. ;)

Thanks for the heads up on this! I will checking them after I get the motor out. :notworthy:

MOTOR / TRANNY / XFER CASE ARE OUT!!!!

Going to do a little clean up and then they are off to their respective shops to be rebuilt. Now I just need to scavange the 4.0 parts.

New member....can't wait to start asking newbe questions!! :D

Not sure if anyone saw this on ebay, but I ended up snagging it. I have been looking for months and this was the most solid CJ7 I have ever seen. This is the before pic. I will add an "in progress" pic soon as it is currently in my driveway on jack stands (my wife loves that) torn apart waitng for brake booster, brake lines (some genius put a lift on with stock brake lines), new wiring harness (been spliced and repaired way too many times), carb, all new guages, cables, and "dash guts".

Can't wait! :chug:
Hey there. did you happend to buy this jeep out of georgia. I drove one exactly like this back in my high school days. It is very rare to find this paint job in good shape like this. hope you enjoy the jeep.

Nope, this came out of Texas. The body and paint are the sole reason I decided to buy it. Still accumulating parts right now, but hope to have it moving on its own power again by summer. :chug:

So I have hit a road block and I need help!!! I have accumulated all the parts to do a 4.0 head and fuel injection conversion. I still need to purchase some odds and ends, but it needs to be put back together. Problem is........I HAVE NO TIME!!! My job is priority #1 right now and I have no time to slap this thing back together. I would like to at least get it in running order so I can do small stuff (brakes, suspension, etc) in the Limited amount of spare time I get.

Can you guys recommend anyone fluent with CJ's and 4.0 head conversions that could help me in the Omaha NE area? I am more than willing to compensate monetarily for the services.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey Ironmerganser....

Love the color scheme...
My 79 had the same sticker package. When I repainted, I wish I would have had replacement stickers that my paint guy could have sprayed clear on top of.... It looks so generic now... Wish I knew how to get a replacement set. !

Good luck with the engine issue...

brian
