Glad you figured it out I had a similar problem where my outer but wouldn’t come off until I realized (thanks to the forum) that the washer behind it had to be bent back.

What kind of ball joints are you installing?

I'm just running stock ball joints. I'm only going 33" tires. If I ever need to replace them again I'll upgrade them.
 
Thanks, I’m going to have to replace mine, I’ve got it down to the frame and rebuilding the axles now.

I’ll be running 33” as well, but thinking of going with Moog ball joints.
