1984 CJ7 wipers

1984 CJ7 wipers
No set screw on my 84. Knob just slides on and off. No flat spot. More like a v grove

My bad. Should have had my glasses on. No grove, flat side. Original knob has spring ( spring loaded) to keep it on

This one is missing the ring the bends to allow you to slide it on, but grabs the shaft as you try to pull it off. You need to get a screwdriver to press the ting against the back of the knob in order to pull it off.

Is this what you are talking about?

I have drilled and taped the bottom for a 8-32 set screw to fix'em. ;)

I'll be damed if I can load a picture right now. Don't want to mess with my ring. Works good right now and maybe not if I tried bending some

That is what it looks like! I don't see the set screw "groove" to turn it unless that's not how it works

You seem to be missing the metal inset for it that has the little ring attached at the end. I wish I had one off to take a pic of.

I found the spring and pulled it off. Then aligned the know with the spring correctly and "shoved" the knob on. It grabbed the "shaft" and seems to be on although there is a gap from the dash to the knob and it won't go any further on.

Looks right!

That gap looks right for the washer one. It pushes in some to activate the squirter, right?

I think it has the squirter (no fluid yet or active reservoir) and it did turn the wipers on/off. The spring thingy confused me and then I was too gentle trying to put the knob on. But progress! I cannot thank you all enough. It is a small thing but they all add up (functionality and safety). Again THANKS!
