Stored inside standing upright at a jeep parts place.
When I took the pan off and inspected bearings all looked fine.
I was pretty amazed.

Me too. It's tough to look at the accumulation of shiny parts kinda like little diamonds under the hood and under the Jeep.

About 3.5 hours one way. No warranty. I'm gonna push for an exchange even if it's my old one back. A knock is not as serious as this.
I have found another one pulled from a CJ7 . Good candidate for a rebuild if I can't work out a deal.

Good news, we may have found another bone yard with lots of goodies to see. Claim to have solid AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l 's.
Other vendor still no response. I'll give him until then before I add some pressure.

Gang, I found another engine complete. Sounds solid.
Here's the deal. At startup it hits 35 psi oil. When it's warm it's about 4-5. Big drop.
So I'm gonna get a chance to open it up.
What would you look for first.
