I'm getting ready to do an engine swap in my CJ5 and I'm getting ready to purchase an engine and while looking at engines I ask about the ignition module and they keep telling me there is just one wire,
They must be talking about 1 wire coming from the control Box ?
Or Am I missing something ?
1986 CJ7 - 258ci engine (rebuilt) with dual outlet header, stock T4 transmission, Zoom high performance clutch, Dana 300 transfer case, custom drive shaft w/TJ yokes, Dana 30/AMC 20 front/rear diff (Alloy USA upgrade) and Ox lockers. Jeep was originally a basket case, purchased for $250, and I have spent over a year rebuilding it in my spare time in the "old school" way, with attention to keeping it as stock appearing as possible, but making improvements where needed.
I'm going to assume you have a stock ignition setup in your 1977 CJ for the purposes of my reply. If this is the case, you should have have five wires coming out of your ignition control module utilizing two large plugs. The black wire goes to ground (-), the white and blue ones go to your distributor, the red one is the hot(+) supply from the ignition switch(which also supplies the hot side of the ignition coil, and the green goes to the neg (-) side of the ignition coil.
