It would be 720 for me round trip. wish i knew if i was going to have my 7 togeather.

just for curiosity, how many miles can you go on whatever you carry??
I have 14 gallons of usable 'pane in the tanks. Mileage is tough to figure out since it suffers on the road (about 20% less efficient on the highway) but i get 1/3rd better mileage offroad then I did with gas. I averaged about 8 mpg on petro. :D

Im working on a way (call it my spring project) to run 3 forklift tanks....that will give me 21 gallons of usable fuel.

Sounds like that will take up quite a bit of space..

I'm running fork lift tanks. 3 total with me. And 3 spares on the trailer

Just from an engineering standpoint I would try for about a 200 mile range and keep the weight down to a minimum, what does one of those tanks weigh full??. A 12 man tent would be cool, if you were driving a duce and a half but if your driving the CJ you may find yourself debating on if you really need another pair of clean socks. I think I may look for one of those cot things like Dave has, does it come in a double wide??:D

When you are rock crawling. You cant go by how many miles I always have Atleast two tanks since running out of fuel sucks

I have stock 15 gal rear tank, under seat 11 gal 2nd tank, and 2 - 5 gal jerry cans.

36 Gal should get me a ways... :D

How true, I've burned up 12 gallons in a day just to go 20 miles.

I think the cot tent is a great idea for Jeep camping but its too heavy for backpacking.
My cot/tent is made by Kamp-Rite. I have to admit, they are not the highest quality tent. They do make double-wide tents too but so does Cabela's. Here's a Kamp-Rite double wide.

My cot tent has 6 legs. I noticed these double wide tent have 4 bars on the ground for support. I'm not sure if they would work quite as well on rocky terrain.

So my buggy just sold now i need to get the 8 rolling

It kind of looks like yours would shed water better too.

I think there may be just enough room behind the other two up against the tailgate...turned sideways. I still need to measure. Of course i'll have to move the other two forward a little, not much though.

just exactly where is Bear town??:D
Beartown-map.jpg
Here is Beartown Site. As you can see from the map, the easiest path is to head east from Silverton over Stony Pass then south up into a valley to Beartown site. Those of you that will be coming on the 2nd Annual Colorado Jeep-CJ.com Trail Ride we will be staying on the trails on the west side of this map. And some of the trails we will be going on, such as Black Bear and Imogene Pass are off this map to the west. Most of us will be staying in Ouray. That's north-west of the map.

Just wanted to bump this thread to see if anyone else wanted to join us for the 2nd Annual Colorado Jeep-CJ.com Trail Ride.
It still a while off. It will be taking place August 27th through the 31st 2012.
Here's some more pictures of the area.

YO! it's a party!

this should be the week all the locals refer to as "that week/year all those CJs were here.?

I don't want to spoil any spontaneity but have we considered an itinerary for this adventure??

I know that black bear and Poughkeepsie Gulch are on the list and at least half of the alpine loop. I would like to be able to tell everybody that I spent the night in Bear Town and of course if the opportunity to chase brook trout with my fly stick were to present itself it would not be a major hardship.
