Hello
I was trying to determine why my wipers don't work. Here are some pictures

Found out the cause. The PO used too long of screws to hold the rubber to the bottom of the windshield frame and it held up the linkage.

In the process I noticed that the wiper motor cover does not fit very well over the frame and the window seal. Should there be a gasket between the cover and frame?

Also does anyone know where to get the round 1.5" rubber plugs that are in the interior above the dash? It is shown in the picture (says 1.5" DOT).

Thx

I would think that a gasket would be a good idea to keep the water and dirt out. Those plugs are a standard item and should be available at a industrial hardware outfit.

Hey Torx

Thank you for the help. I agree about the gasket however I don't see one in the jeep diagram or parts list. Also do you have any recommendations for the Industrial supply that would have those DOT plugs. I have looked but could not find.

Thank you
DB

My jeep didn't have a gasket I agree that there should be one but I don't think ( what appears to me from your photo) form a gasket is right for that application looks like a huge mess I know O'rielly Carrys rolls of gasket material if you were really worried about they have it in cork and a black fiber material depends in what you want I personally would get rid of what's there and find thick o rings to place around bolts this would allow the cover to sit just a little off the windshield frame so if water did get in it would just run out the bottom
Anyone else see a problem with this ??

But in any case how many time do you drive your jeep in the rain or leave or outside when it rains??

That "plug" looks like a side marker off a semi truck or trailer with the lens painted? Is the middle hard plastic?

Not sure what the plugs would be for? Covering the old vent holes maybe?

The rubber portion looks like it could be found at a heavy truck/trailer/fab place.

They aisles full of that stuff.

If you determine it is just a side marker with the lens painted, most auto parts places will have them.

73s used a black putty to seal it it remains soft, well maybe 10 years. 3m makes little strips for body repairs. Try NAPA?

Silicon would be too tough to pull apart.

:D
