77 CJ 7's- Why are they often left out of parts listings?

I own a 77 CJ7 . I noticed shortly after I started ordering parts that the 77 year model is often left out of parts listings. For example, you will Often see parts for 72-76 then it will skip 77 and go to 78-83. I had one guy on the chat box for a familiar Jeep Parts supplier tell me it was an "adaptive year". Not quite sure what he meant by that. Perhaps someone can give me a better answer than that.

He means that in 77 you could have parts from 76 or 78 they usually used up all the 76 parts left over before they began using the new 78 parts

the 77 and 78 were what are called "transitional years". A good example is the super crappy ignition system. The hardest thing I have looked for is the gas tank filler and vent hoses. Some times you just have to get creative. What are you looking for specifically?

The 72-75 had different heating systems/controls then later CJ's, the 76 and 77 were different as well. The 78-86 heating systems/controls were the same.

Exactly IO-------That's what I'm doing now and what prompted me to write the post. Replacing fuel tank which had a patch (from PO) that started leaking. The PO obviously got creative as well. He cut the neck off the filler tube, didn't replace straps. I am replacing the hose and just going back like he had it (But adding the straps back on it). It's secure and safe. So far so good, but I liked to have never found the filler hose. Waiting on the straps now. I hope they work. I was starting to think the 77 didn't have straps. I don't know why anyone would go through the trouble of pulling a fuel tank and then try and patch it. Then without the straps it set on the skid plate and wiggled in the grime and sand for who knows how many years, eventually sanding a hole in the patch.

Actually the 76 model has some 75 parts carried over too. You can't do the heater motor upgrade common on the 77 and up and the 76 also has the drum brakes carried over.

The blower is on the inside rather than on the engine side fire wall and I believe the blazer motor turns backward from the 76-77. I have every intention of checking to see if this is true , sometime. every time I see someone doing the blazer motor upgrade I ask which direction the motor turns but have not yet had an answer. maybe I am not asking politely enough.

76 and 77 have the same blower motor (inside), my 77 had front drum brakes.
