82 CJ-7 Upper Rear Shock Mount

This is going to sound really dumb, but the PO removed the rear shocks because of a broken lower mount. I noticed the Upper mount is missing the bar for the shock to mount on to. The hole where the bar goes through is still there in the mount, almost like he cut it off. Has anybody used a bolt instead of a whole new shock mount? If so, what size?

The upper rear shock mounts are a welded in individual bracket on each side of the frame. The lower mounts are incorporated onto the spring plate. The cross brace isn't a shock mount.
