I know price is all over the place right now. Long story short a co worker of my father, his dad passed away and he is trying to sell his dad's 83 CJ7 . (Pics coming once I get them)

From what I know it's all or mostly original 6 cylinder (not sure if it's the AMC 232 i6 or AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ) 4 spd (once again dunno if it's a T-18 , T-4 , or T-176 ). Has both hard and soft doors clean title located in VA and he's planning on driving it Ocean City MD for Jeep week. But he's unsure of a value to put on it.

I will try to get more info and pictures but some ideas in the meantime would be helpful.

On Classic.com they show some values across 46 CJ7 's sold. They show the highest at $52,500 and the lowest at $6,875, with an average across the 46 at $22,049 and the most recent at $21,250. I looked up that highest one at $52K and it was a full frame-off restoration with many custom features such as SBC 400, Dana 44 axles front and rear, lockers, custom paint, OBA, and at least one show award. That $6K one had some rust and some gauges not working (plus I'll bet other issues). Just for reference, my '84 CJ7 was in running condition, with some issues but drivable, very little rust, and a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with a T-176 and I paid $10K - and it had half the 101K miles I see on this one's odometer. I also see this one has manual brakes, a gauge hanging under the dash hinting that one of the stock ones doesn't work, and a rusty area under the passenger door. Hard to estimate without more details or pics underneath (frame, floorboards, etc), but I would say $12K or under.

I haven't seen it in person as it's 6 hours away from me. I have no idea what the under side looks like. I do know it has a second set of wheels and tires. As for the gauge I have a temp gauge on mine for easier monitoring.

Yes I also noticed that it has non power brakes.

I was leaning towards telling him 10-12 for a high side but 6-8 would probably be the selling point.

I'm waiting for some additional information but it is a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and apparently a new motor. Still unsure of the Transmission but originally it was a 5 spd. It also has both hard and soft doors as well as a second set of wheels and tires (for beach use)
