does anyone know the correct booster adjustment. new to this but my brakes are in great shape- the lines bleed as they should but im still getting a weak brake. the vaccum is perfect and i have been trying to adjust the booster but cant find the right setting. any help?

Welcome to the site. You will find alot of knowledgeable folks here. There is no need to adjust your booster from the factory setting. If you preload your master cylinder with the booster rod, you will initiate a chain of events that will be detrimental to your brake system a possibly your safety. Look a little deeper for your problem . Again, welcome to the site.

I would say it is time for a new proportioning valve.
no adjustment, no repair, not rebuildable. just replace it.

Replaced brake booster not long ago , have the same issue . Brake pedal goes almost to the floor before brakes applied . I was thinking the adjusting rod between the booster and master would help but this post says no . BTW had a hell of a of tme getting right booster in fact wound up cutting end off rod and replacing with old one to get brake light switch to work . Question is , no adjustment ? Thanks

I have an adjustable rod in my '86 and it helps eliminate excess pedal play for better braking. From your description, I think you might have air in the lines.

I would check to see if I had a power MC. the power has a dimple in the end of the piston and the manual has a hole. Some how what you describe does not seem to be a booster problem to me.

A long pedal can also be caused from misadjusted shoes, and in extreme cases, I have replaced wheel cylinders that were stuck in the extended position, not leaking, but stuck out causing a soft pedal.

Did it have power brakes before? Im only asking, because if I remember correctly the non power brake peddle has the pin higher on the peddle than the power brakes.

Yeah it had power brakes . You all have given me some good leads to look at . I got a couple days off and will check em out . :notworthy: Thanks
