Lol ya that was a smash, I was holding a part against the belt sander with my fingers and the belt grabbed the part and sucked it in between the belt and bottom plate faster than I could let go..... no motor overload on that dang thing so I got to watch my fingers being jammed under the part for a split second before it managed to peel my finger tips almost all the way off

Read this a few times and still trying to visualize it. Glad you are ok, and still have your fingers also.

Good reminder to respect the tools we use. Hope you heal fast.

I'll never forget the time I was practicing setting a 16d nail with two blows from a framing hammer and hit my thumbnail. Blood shot twelve feet to splatter a wall.

I almost passed out reading that lol. I can relate. I'm a woodworker and use the belt sander a lot. I can see how that could happen in a split second.
At least it wasn't a chop saw, or table saw.
Hope you heal quick and get back to wrenching!!

The belt sander roared down towards the table part, I knew my part wasn’t wide enough to cover the gap between the table and belt so I was holding it with my hand above the table trying to lightly sand it, well the belt grabbed my part and sucked it down thru the gap in between the table and belt fingers and all

Brilliant...!!!
Can you post your McMaster parts list?

hey mdeluca i used FK bearings rod ends #F5SB , they are made in USA and have a bronze race in them to keep squeaking down

I found a similar rod end in Mc Master Carr #6072K164 a 5/16 female 24tpi

I used unthreaded 5/16 rod just because I didn't want to see all thread in my windshield #8920K265 in a 6 foot length is more than enough, with the 24 tpi the rod needs to be sanded down to like .3125 to get the die to thread on to the rod so it won't thread on off center

I am still tinkering with this setup tho because the rod ends are .437 thick each and you need a thin spacer to space them off the wiper pivot arm which means my pivot cover won't go over the drivers side because its about flush with the opening in the windshield frame.

I am wondering if i went down to 1/4 inch rod ends if i would have the clearance i need or if i cut the driver wiper pivot and and weld in a piece to turn it in to a z shape if i can get it to clear the pivot cover.... i would need to weld the bolt to the pivot so i have clearance to the front of the windshield frame and may be cut a slot in it so i can use the factory clip for ease of install and more clearance...... still mulling it over in my head

A nice easy drive thru the country to the Mother in laws house went across lake Tawakoni and lake Fork...... never fails that only two cars on the entire road in the middle of no where one is me crusing the other one is up my butt, great drive unfortunately I headed East and now I have to head home which is West

Dated a girl from Wills Point for awhile we spent many a day out that way. Looked like a nice ride.

Gert, you’ve been laying a a bunch of wins on that Jeep in the last couple of years, it was trying to get a win back. You’re still way up. Heal up and be sure to embellish that story like any good garage warrior.

Man I sure thought I put the resistor on my alternator...... I suspected my alternator to be acting funny and have the volt/amp gage hooked directly to battery and it has been showing my alternator to be over charging, I sacrificed my oil pressure gage light to do a quick check for the ride home and looks like I did forget that stupid resistor after all .... grrr

That voltage is right in the sweet spot for idle. But is that gauge supposed to show amperage too?

Yes I have it hooked up to the negative side of the battery, it occurred to me that the only amperage it shows that way is the amperage used to charge the battery not the amperage. Output of the alternator which is what I would like to see, there is an alternate wiring method for the positive side that I want to try to see the alternator I just need to get off my butt and wire it that way

So what you were looking at is no charging going to battery it spikes to about 15 amps right after start up to less than 1 amp the rest of the drive
