I have a couple rust blisters located directly under the drivers side stripe. To fix, I need to remove the stripe. I found a "reproduction" stripe kit online for $310.

My plan was to remove the entire stripe kit from my Jeep, fix the rust spots and any other small chips, etc. then wet sand and buff the entire vehicle and replace with new stripe kit. That plan changed when I received my order...

So here is the issue. The colors do not match. The light blue is off by a couple shades and the 2 darker blues are more navy blue than aqua blue.

In addition, the font is also slightly off. You all can judge for yourself, but IMO I do not like these colors at all and it totally changes the look of my Jeep.

I'm not going to mention the name of the middleman company, but they first said no returns, but now wants to charge me a 30% restocking fee (90 bucks) after I told them I would just dispute the charge on my credit card. That is between me and them.

The manufacturer is Phoenix Graphics (800-941-4550) Phoenix Graphix 1983-84 Jeep Renegade Decal Kit and the contact there is Nathan. He knows his stuff. I spoke with him in great detail yesterday and he said that there are 2 stock versions of the 83-84 Jeep stripe kit. Version 1 is for 83 and V2 is for 84. Phoenix Graphics does not make the V2, which is what I was looking for.

I would note that I have NEVER seen a different stock lt/med/drk blue stripe kit other than my own, but this is what he said.

My advice is to go directly to Phoenix Graphics and speak with Nathan if you are looking for decals and stripe kits. That way, you know exactly what you are ordering and any fine details you might need to know.

Phoenix Graphics told me they accept returns only if you order directly through them.

The 1st and 4th pics are the stock kit that is on my Jeep now. The 2nd and 3rd pic shows just how off the dark blues are. You can also see in the last pic that the font is off on the lettering as well.

For me, it's the colors that are the problem and not necessarily the font. But I just thought I would mention it.

I apologize that I did not take more pics of the "reproduction" kit, but I had my knee operated on on Monday and wasn't feeling that great and had a friend send it right back for me and these were the pics I took real quick.

It's not a bad kit, it's just not what I was looking for.

I ordered a set from Morris 4x4 and they were really dryed out.Meaning they were packed in a double protective layer and one layer shrunk wrinking the decals out.A place by the name of Toxic Stripes put them on here in Glendale,Az.He said the same thing as mine were off also.He told me I should have went there first, course I didn't know about Phoenix Graphics at the time and their about 20 miles from me.
I know how you feel I went thru the same thing.Like the guy told me that put them on check with a person who does this for a living. They can tell you whats good and whats not.You can see my decals in my avatar photo

Sorry to hear about the trouble. I guess this goes back ti us all dealing with parts that are for a vehicle that is a antique and they sell very few parts for. I know from restoring a 57 Belaire that some stickers for under the hood cost me over a hundred each to get font correct on egine speck stickers. So getting someone to do that hood sticker correct may be cost prohibutive. Try a vynil sign company that makes vehicle stickers.

When I repainted my Jeep in 93, you could still get an original factory hood stripe kit for 500 bucks, but the side stripe kit was discontinued. It just so happened that I knew a sign maker and he made the side stripes for me for $100 installed! Looking abck now, I should have made him make 2 sets for me and put the spare in storage...

I know the V shaped decals on the hood could easily be made as well. It's the multi colored "Renegade " letters that are the problem.

I know I can replace that one long dark blue stripe that runs down the entire Jeep. (which is where that rust blister is) Worst case, I have to remove the other side as well if I can't get them to match.

I will say the "Jeep" decals are perfect and they were only 9 bucks for each side.

Hey Bullseye where did you get the JEEP letter decals at.
Thanx Mike

Small correction: I bought my "Jeep" side fender decals here for 7 bucks, not 9:

Jeep Body Name Decals

BUT, Phoenix Graphix has them here for $9+: (Not sure if they are the same)

Phoenix Graphix 1983-84 Jeep Renegade Decal Kit

I also purchased these Hub decals, but have not installed...

Hub Decals

Other various interior/under hood decals:

Jeep Decals Interior

Jeep Decals Enginee / Underhood

emblems:

Jeep Emblems / Nameplates

Here are the pics of what I ordered from CB... The decals all have their protective backing/cover on them.

Also putting up pics of the replacement interior door panels and a quick review and pics of the replacement interior door opening/locking mechanism on my restoration thread...

This a priceless thread!! Will save me huge headaches.
Thanks!:chug:
