Sway bar disconnect busted at around 45 mph. The :dung: hit the fan, the tires were bouncing and i just slammed on the brakes. I was thinking axle. But the disconnect is gone

Glad youre ok. How much damage to the CJ and what caused the failure?

Holy :censored: , I am glad to hear you are ok. Let us know what caused it.

I disconnected with old dog(this problem has nothing to do with old dog) to work on the front end. The pin was aluminum and corroded as are the disconnects. I just forced things and this is the result. Ill get some pics. I dont think any damage was done. Just sits lower on that side. Any suggestions on disconnects that are superman strong

Would an aftermarket 1 1/8 sway and new disconnects make a good difference or should I stay stock on sway bar and just replace the disconnects

Glad you got it shut down, that can be scary times there! I would be mor concerned with matching the fabric in the seat plug that was missing than what happened for a few mins anyway...:chug:

Haha!!! It was an oh sh** moment for sure.

Did you ruin your seats?

Also ordered a demon 650 and 1 inch plenum.

 Good to hear your ok.
I don't want to loose my coffee connection :D

Thanks for caring, about coffee.

Found cause of failure. While replacing u bolts and shims, I did not re check them since. They had worked loose on the opposite side of failure. Wedge was freely moving

When installing new sway bar end links, i have a question. Now that the disconnects are gone, i can actually compress the springs. Is it possible that the end links were too long and the weight was on the sway bar? My new ones are adjustable. How do i know the proper length adjustment with a 4 inch lift

Sounds to me like they are to long. I wonder if the PO bought the wrong ones.

I have not run a sway bar on my Jeep CJ7 for years. It has never been a problem.

Glad you are ok..!

I think the problem was me running very loose u bolts and the :dung: hit the fan. Disconnect i think just couldnt handle force and the pin sheared.

You guys running no sway bar, any cornering or driving issues on road?

I haven't had any issues with not using my sway bar, I also have a 4" lift from Superlift, which is already fairly stiff.. but no, no issues here.

Mine drives ok without one with my 4" lift springs, but I might feel different if I had to turn real fast to miss something.

My jeep CJ5 did not have a sway bar. I ran it like that for 13 years before i installed one. No issues
