That is NOT normal at all, is this 'fresh'? Looks like an older mark from a saw.
Are there any local Jeep clubs with CJ's in them near you? If so-I would contact them and see who they recommend.:notworthy:
I would file a BBB and social media complaints about the so-called shop. Post up the receipts and pictures of the damage(pulley)they did.
Go and get'em!

The cut does look old, but not factory. While it is ugly. if the edge are smooth and the belt tracks properly it's not likely to be a problem. The pulley looks like pressed on type, the damage might have come from a puller that was improperly placed on the pulley. Those things are VERY solidly pressed on, it takes a very special tool to remove AND reset.

Looks to me, like that 'cut' has been there for a long time.
VERY good picture, BTW. ;)
See how she runs-Then decide. :chug:

I'm trying to connect with jeepers and swappers but I think they see my "neediness" on getting help with the jeep and run away. LOL ;)

Is there a state 4WD association of some sort?

I agree I would move on and worry about what it's going to take to get it on the road.

I know it can be hard, but I'd lay the small stuff aside and sweep up the big stuff. Then circle back to the little things. ..... that is if it wouldn't be easier to do the repair when addressing something else.

Not sure Lumpy Grits. I bet there are. I belong to a few on facebook and will have to see if they have someone that is skilled and local. Wish I did that first.

I'm still am considering posting their so called "invoice" with bogus (and non authorized) stuff they "did". And how I paid a whopping $1100 for nothing..... All of which I could have (and actually already did. Or they charged for things they never did.)

They made me sign a "won't talk bad about them on social media" But I 'signed in duress'. And said I didn't agree with how they treated me. And I video taped it too,

I'm still waiting for the owner to respond to the BBB complaint... If he doesn't help me by giving me a refund I have a few other organizations (including governmental) that I will be sending the complaint too. I just wanted to give them some time to realize that they were not fair and stoleost of the money from me while offering subpar service and work.

Nevertheless, I just wanted to give them a week or so to think about it...... And time is almost up.

Interesting that they had the 'won't say anything "mean" on social media' typed and printed all ready for when I picked up my jeep.

Perhaps they have more victims than we know about but they make them sign (against their will) and constitutional right that they won't warn people about them.

Thanks everyone for your support! That is why I LOVE this forum!

From looking at the last picture you posted, it appears to be dented where the cut crosses the upper edges of the pulley. From there to the grooves, it looks like a cut. A closer look at the grooves and the cut doesn't bisect them, but seems to follow around them. Which would indicate to me a crack. Could be just the camera image. I'd have to examine it up close and personal to know for sure.

Make me wonder if something did get in there and get jammed, and somehow caused the pulley to crack. Just an exercise in speculation right now....

'Chick', IF you paid with a CC. You can dispute the bill.....
Remember-Truth is not slander. That no post deal you signed, is not worth the paper it is written on.
BTDT!

I have Excellent News Guys and Girls!

All of your support, my families support and after my horrible experience with the local "repair shop"-just made me feel more competent. and more like an expert- ALL of this gave me the courage and confidence to bunker down and get the drive train IN the jeep.

I DID IT!

I was able to get the power train and driveshafts in! I am moving on to the shop's "work" and fix or clean it up. . Then will move on to trying to make a bracket for my TCC switch. Etc.

Anyways ---Thanks for your encouragement! OOXX

Hi Lumpy Grits-
Won't the law "frown" on me if I go this route? I am still gathering evidence and everyone is encouraging me to file a small claims suite. I think I will go forward with it.
However, I will also talk to my cc company to let them know what's going on.

Thanks for the ideas. :)

That paper is worthless. Just like signing a liability waver. Means nut'n.
Call the CC company, ASAP! -You only have a certain time frame to work with here.

Hey Lumpygrits,
There is something I can do to dispute the credit card charge. According to the consumer FTC government website, if a consumer feels the repair shop did shoddy work or did things not requested or wanted etc, one can dispute the charges with the credit card company.

The consumers FTC.gov also has a sample letter to write the company and credit card company. I used it to send the repair shop an email request for a refund. (Will also do a certified letter as suggested) and gave the shop until this Friday until I contact the credit card company and other help.
Thanks for sharing as it led me to a plethora of information! ;)

CALL your CC company. Talk to them.......
