But I've been thinking long an hard about taking off the 2.5 yj lift springs....getting stock cj springs and ride stock height.......or at the most upgraded stock or no more than 1" lift springs if need be.....

The end result with our CJ5 will be od green "semi military" style look and just my personal preference but I do t like the look of a "lifted" military themed jeep lol

The simple military look is cool. It would be a far cry from my '79 CJ5 but I say go for it. Something like this?

I always think the military look is very simple and tough looking.

Hey It's yours, do what makes you happy. Military theme is totaly cool and that is were my 3b restore is going although it's desert tan and not OD green.
Could get a bit contageous though and try to get too authentic it sounding like for you?
Here's my decal and stencil site.

Yeah pretty much I've done the "beat the hell out of your jeep" thing when I built the rubi I used to have....now I just want easy to get in and out. CJ5 is hard enough with the hump lol....plus less wear and tear on parts with huge tires and all.....she's primer grey now.....most likely will go od green and put flat tube fenders on....light trails (green and some blue) are all I'd do off road....29-30" tires are just fine for that.....just getting old I guess, plus I've always dug the "army" jeep look.....my first jeep was the 2004 "Willys" edition ;-)

I like the idea. If your only looking at greens and light blues go for it. Thats where Im headed with the Scrambler. Same rating on the trails just a little higher with 31s or 32s to help offset the rear overhang a bit.

That being said when you decide to take the Yj springs and perches off Id be interested in them for the CJ7 . Shoot me a pm when you decide.

Sounds good to me.....won't happen till I figure out what springs to go with though and $ to get em lol

LOL! I know what you mean.
Me climbing into my soa CJ5 would be a candidate for America's Funniest Videos!

This thread saddens me :(
The day I no longer have the need to climb over Volkswagon sized granite rocks with tons of horsepower and way over sized tires is the day they can just take my CJ7 away from me :D

But on a serious note, I think a military theme Jeep would be awesome. I happened to be one of the military units that retired the CJ's and CutV's in favor of the HMMWV. I was documented as the very first Airman over seas to be certified on the HMMWV.

I knew you had "the right stuff" :us:

I am feeling the same way about my CJ5 . I actually am pulling all the hi performance items off my 5 to put on the CJ8 build and after that is finished I want to restore the 5 to full stock. This is mainly because I have owned the 5 for 21 years and just want it stock, perfect and to keep it. The 8 will be the toy

I was about 9 or 10 when we lived on base at ft campbell ky when the pretty much had a parade of HHMMWV's leaving and my dad worked overseeing the jeeps getting roll cages installed....
