i have a 79' CJ5 with a stock geared AMC20 . anybody know what the ratio
is likely to be? the tranny is a T-150 !

thanks, in advance, radman

should be either 3.31 or 2.73 (i hope not), although I have seen a couple with 3.07's those were very few and far between.

i guess that i'll slip under the cj and try to either count rotation or grab
a serial/ id number off the old 20 and cross reference it from there.

thanks, radman

There should be a letter stamped on the right side of the housing and indicates set up
N Trac-lok 3.54
M Trac-lok 4.09
A Standard 3.54
L Standard 4.09

Not sure about other ratios?

i think that will probably answer my question..
thank you all, radman

just came back from looking for some letter designation on my AMC20
and.... nope, i didn't see any lettering on case (right side).. did see a
type of date stamp (i think)

any idea where to look???

radman

i went and looked again and just a 5 o'clock (or may) date stamp.
also has a 2 an arrow and something i can't figure out.

any ideas where this ratio id might be???

radman

Mine is stamped just to the right of the cover were the axle tube meets, 3:00 with a single letter about 1/4" tall

finally found it!!! it's a "n" 3.54 trak-lok amc rear end. letter was stamped on pumpkin at 3:00 on a reinforcement lug..

thanks guys.... radman

The trac locks burn out fast. best bet is to use a Scout Dana 44 rear
(must weld on perches)better axle. Or a 86 CJ7 Dana 44 .or a commando
Dana 44 rear.
