2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Diesel
An old timer as the years go but new to CJ7s. Just recently, I jumped in buying a 1986 CJ7 , AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l cubic inch(AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l liter) inline six which, to my eyes, looks stock. Checking the VIN, I found the number identified my Jeep having a manual Transmission when it came out of the factory. However, someone along the way changed it to a 3 speed automatic. I'm starting some general maintenance right now like Transmission oil and filter change.
HOW do I find out which automatic Transmission my CJ7 has in it? Is there a number somewhere on the Transmission ?
Chilton's list 3 possibilities; Chrysler 904 and 999 and a turbo hydra-matic 400. When I check Morris 4X4 Center for the gasket and filter, they don't mention any of those three possibilities but list a A904 and A927 for the gasket. Morris doesn't list a filter. Just for general information,
Does anyone have a 'one stop shop' for CJ7 parts?
Is there a MOPAR website for checking original OE numbers?
