:D Well, It's happening! My next addition to the fleet can finally be picked up at my liesure... I am the proud owner of a '76 CJ5 !! It's in pretty fair condition, the top is a little ratty and starting to pop at the seems so will need to be replaced... It has a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l .. I'm pretty sure it has the T-18 4-speed.. unsure about the Transfer Case , maybe a Dana 300 ... must have a Dana 44 rearend, has lockout hubs and a manual detroit locker... lockouts on the front Dana 30 ? I suspect... and very little rust.. It has some really crappy home made shackles that have got to be at least 8" long front and rear, PO says it's pretty unstable, hmmmm... Oh and it has what could pass as a semi's front bumper on the back, it's a crazy big chunk of steel for sure, LOL! ...and 33" tires, that look pretty good and still hold air, even after sitting for the last 7-10 yrs, LOL.. ya, they'll have to go I'd guess

Stay tuned! Pictures to come... VERY SOON! :D

Congrats! Can't wait to see the pictures. I picked up a '75 CJ5 a little while ago and just waiting for some seatbelts to install to get her on the road.

I didnt know you were "finished" with the CJ7 ;). Id bet on a Dana 20 behind the T-18 . Maybe you can make a buck or two at the scrap yard between the bumper and shackles? :D

On the upside the T-18 wont blow fluid all over the place like your last tranny did. Let me know if you need parts. I have 2 dana 20s and a Jeep T-18 from a J-truck in my garage right now.

Thanks Pete!

And "finished" is.. well, such a relative term...:D Heck, I've been too busy driving it to finish it!!! LOL

My plan for this one is to take it all back to stock, maybe a couple inches of lift and 33" tires. Those are 31s on there now, and it looks pretty rediculous, especially since someone decided to radious the rear wheel wells.. someone has replaced the floors and did a pretty nice job at first glance, but the carpet has been rivited down, so I'll have some work getting it out for a full inspection.. I've only noticed one small spot on the frame that has rust, so far.. It's hot out, so we pretty much unloaded it, took some pics, and came inside...

If it was mine I would ditch the body lift also. It sure looks like a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l but I don't know what the differnce is. I wish you luck with your project bringing a classic back to it's former glory.
