Any Insight

cory, being a 87 the gearing probaly was 3.54 at best. They were into trying to get good mpg with high gears back than, it might even be 3.23's. But thats just a guess.
The axles would be great in your 7. They are a common swap so theres lots of info on the web. But I bet you would still have to regear.

Id rather find the axles with 4:10's without regearing but thank you old dog!

they are going to be a couple of inches wider as well, not a bad thing but just saying. I think the trick is to find an axle with the differential pumpkin is the right place.

Ya thats another thing i was wondering to, i could always just keep my Dana 30 AMC20 and regear them to 4:56's and switch to one piece axles wouldnt that be a option to?

Sure you could. Personally its something I want to learn myself. Whenevr I do get around to grabbing my next project I have a friend that does the regearing himself. Basically my plan is to have both axles out and do one while watching him do the other. That way I have a trained eye watching untrained me. :D

You can keep them till you break them, that's what I said 5 years ago and they are both still under my jeep and going strong.

44's would be stronger but finding some with 4:10's is going to be hard.

With the cost of a 44 swap, it's cheaper to build the 20 up and it's just as strong.
No debate, it's been proven over and over in 4x4 mag's.
However is you already have both laying around the cost is debateable.
