Anyone restore their speedometer?

I am looking to restore my factory speedometer as it hasn't been working for some time now I also want to have the factory clock restored as well. I saw they sell replacement gauges but heard they are cheap quality and are not the same as factory. Has anyone had this done? The few local shops that used to do it around here are no longer in business so wasn't sure if anyone knew of a reference. I did find these guys online they said they could probably repair both my clock and spedo for 200 bucks.

Is the needle not working, the mileage, or both?
It's not hard to repair your original speedo.
Make sure the speedo cable isn't the problem
Use a screw gun on the back of the speedo to rule out the cable
It's possible the problem can be repaired, or you may need parts from the bone yard.
Another option would be to find a used speedo and change the mileage to match yours.

The one I restored is older then yours, but there isn't much to them. I did a complete overhaul then spun the numbers to match my original.

Last time I was up at Scot's shop, they had one OEM CJ speedometer in stock. It's been quite a few years, don't know if they still have it or not. But worth checking.

Personally, I won't spend the money to get it restored, but it's your Jeep.
