Getting ready to tear down the axels for re-gear, would you blast them when they apart or wire brush clean them up after they are sealed up?

I plan to POR15 after they are cleaned up.

Mine are not rusty. Oil & greasy yes. So I would only clean and wire wheel them first

I would do it before you tear it down. You may still have a small area or two to to deal with, but you're not taking a chance on messing up a bearing race. Pressure wash first, then wire brush or a flapper wheel for a grinder with a very high number for the grit. That way you not removing a lot of metal fro the axle. Depending on the POR15 product you use, you may need to also top coat it to prevent break down from the sun. :oops:That's not the sun I'm talking about!
