Axle move

Hey jeepers creepers I'm technology illiterate so bear with me if I seem extremely ignorant but thank you for having me. My question is I've recently purchased 79 CJ5 and the rear axle has been moved back and it looks horrible because the wheels are offset from the fender Wells and I was wondering what some people have done to even fix this or by cutting out the fender Wells or so have you thank you

Pics?? How far back. What modifications were done to complete this?

It could be as easy as just moving the spring perches back to the factory location.

As asked. Need to see some pictures. Were the spring mounts to frame moved?
The big question is do you know why?

Maybe the rear was stretched...pics would help
