The PO changed the volt and oil gauges to sunpro but also added an additional battery gauge. Is there any need for this, I dont think it is even hooked up. The light is wired up but the the gauge stays centered even if the battery is disconnected. I was thinking about removing it and putting a fuel pressure gauge there instead. Any ideas on this?

I used to have both guages on one of my trucks. It was nice being able to not only monitor the amperage going in or out of the battery, but also the actual voltage at the battery. Hook it up if you like, its actually safer to run the voltage guage than the Amp guage...

I have a Sunpro oil gauge and love it but I have only seen a battery gauge in campers to check the charge on the battery dont know why you would need one in a Jeep.

I was thinking the same thing. I am going to throw a fuel pressure gauge in that slot instead.

NEVER run a mechanical fuel pressure gauge in the cabin of a vehicle unless the gauge uses an isolator. The potential to have raw fuel squirting in the cabin of the vehicle is not something to play with. Mechanical fuel pressure gauges designed for in dash mounting should be used with an isolator.

:)I would agree with CJ 100% ............No fuel in the drivers compartment.
The isolator is mounted in the engine compartment and has fuel entering one side which pushes against a diaphragm which pushes an inert substance out the other side to move the gauge in the dash.
There not cheap over a $100 bucks last time I bought one plus the gauge.

This is the gauge I was looking at. Go/No-Go? Also, what is the hole diameter in the dash?

That gauge does not have an isolator - it is designed to be mounted outside the drivers compartment.

Since the PO cut the hole in the dash you would need to measure the dia. to be sure.

Just wondering why you think this? You can tell when a battery is charging with an in dash volt gauge.

Dont really want to spend that kind of money for one gauge. I will just mount it under the hood and put a clock in the empty spot.

:)I think that is a good choice,
Not sure what you have for water Temperature but a good mechanical gauge is always a plus over the 12 volt version or even perhaps an oil temp gauge since temperatures always seem to be important while Idling around off road.

They are in a camper to show how much of a charge your batt has. That is why I said I don't know why you would need one in a Jeep because your volt gauge will tell you every thing you need.
