I need to find "Switched power" for my E-choke? does that mean i need power in the ACC postion? or do need power when running only? and no power in the ACC position?

The ACC and running are the same you what one that has no power when off and power when in the on postion. you should be able to find one in the fuse box.

I think we should make a forum wide agenda to hence forth only refer to ACC, Keyed on, etc as Switch 12v for clarification purposes.

On the later CJs with an electric choke it does have a complicated wiring system which the power is controlled from the manifold heater switch and manifold heater relay. It is laid out in the Haynes Repair Manual schematic for the later CJs. If you use switched power it will always be on during operation of the vehicle. It runs thru the bu/seat belt fuse which is a 25 amp.

So let me digest this a little. You say IGN. pos. and ACC pos.are one in the same? For instance if I have a points dist. and a electric choke . So I want to listen to the radio with engine not running that is connected to the ACC. term on the switch.Does this mean I would have 12v going to dist and choke while in the ACC. position.? :( mike

Dan77cj7, probably your best choice would be the IGN term on the switch
or fuse block. With the advent of electronic ignition and fuel injection this is not critical but I connect my electric choke and coil wire and backup light switch to IGN as there is no power (12 volts) to it when the switch is in ACC position. The IGN terminal is there for a reason especially on older vehicles with chokes and points distributors. I think my new vehicles just have off-on-start. I don't want to be a trouble maker but I'm old school and when I wire a vehicle there is 12v constant-12v ignition-12v accessories.
I didn't make the rules and I'm sure not going to change them. :)mike

I think, on the 77, the oil pressure switch has something to do with the E-choke. :agree:I would think the "run " circuit would be preferable to the "accessory" circuit. No sense in powering the choke to listen to the radio. :D

Oh good point, I forgot about that, I don't think my 85 has a position to differentiate from acc or simply on/run I'll have to look. If you have two positions them you are right your dist/coil wouldn't have power in acc.
