Looking do some help with bikini top. I have full best top soft top and a strapless bikini (black). I wanted a tan bikini, strapless doesn’t seem to come in tan so I ordered the “traditional” with the long tie down straps. The issue is the tan bikini top they sent, doesn’t have the plastic lip sawn Into the front edge like my other tops to insert in my windshield channel. I actually returned the first one because of this, re-ordered and now received the same thing for a second time. What am I missing here? The best top site isn’t much help. Thoughts? See pic of the front edge of the top I received.

Pretty strange. What company is making it ? Do you have a picture of it spread out completely on the ground so that we can see what you have ?

Here are some more pics. It’s a best top. The last pic is of my full soft top to show the lip I am missing on the bikini. Like I said I returned one already and they resent the same thing so I’m puzzled. I wish the best top site stated which channel is required or even, people also bought…. But no. Any input would be helpful

From my understanding, you dont need that plastic lip. That's something you have in a full softop, but not the bikini top. With the bikini top, you flip the edge over into the windshield frame channel. Hope that helps.

I have had about 4 in over 40 years, A couple different models and they all had the plastic lip sewn in, which is used in the aluminum channel screwed into the top of the windshield frame. Also on each side is a snap to hold it in place.

When reading the install instructions for this top, it mentions installing snaps at the corners of the windshield frame. I see the snaps on the front corners of your top. That is one of the older styles. For that one, the front edge should be folded and inserted into the channel, and then the corners snapped on to either original snaps or ones you have to add. In your case, probably install the snaps on the windshield channel rather than the frame. See pics below for screen shot of the instructions and where I propose to put the snaps.

Yeah that looks like an aftermarket channel and different from my OEM that mine came with off the truck. Mine is straight across and not bent down on the ends

I’ve got the same Bestop bikini top, strapless, but in black. Doesn’t have the plastic “blade” like older tops. Takes a different channel which has a groove that corresponds with the thick seam to be inserted instead of thin plastic blade. No snaps either, but they wouldn’t hurt if you wanted em.
Haven’t had any problems and I’ve trailered it at 75mph with bikini on.

Your bikini is good. The "lip" isn't hard. It just slips in the windshield channel and the bikini folds over towards the back. I've never installed the snaps, and never had a problem with my bikini even driving 6 hrs at 70+mph. You can kind of see it in this picture. Also i installed my footman loops on the vertical surface of the sheet metal so I don't have to remove them to install my hardtop.
