I just would like to know what is the best way to remove thick heavy undercoat. I believe Ziebart was huge for undercoat but the guy that had my 77 CJ7 (or what was a 77) went :censored: crazy with this stuff its all over the place and i would like to use the hood but the weight is doubled. so what do you think is the best way to remove it. Some things i have done;

Gasoline-today its not worth a :dung: today so it didnt do anything

Diesel- same as gas

Goof off- it did work but it really wasnt that good

WD 40 & PB Blaster- Nada

Please help me!!! Thanks!!

Torch and scraper, smells bad but works, also kleenstrip or aircraft stripper works. Use in ventilated area.

I would try a heat gun and a putty knife.:cool:
The aircraft stripper sounds promising, try a little brake fluid, that removes paint faster than anything I know of LOL.:D

Brake fluid will remove paint, might be worth a try. If the tub is off the frame take in and have it shot blasted, strip it down to the metal. The shop will know what the best medium is to use.

Thanks guys and i did try brake fluid and it didnt work also but i was wondering if a sand blaster would work......hhhmmmm ill try the thinner and stripper keep the ideas coming!!! and by the way the under coat is on THICK.

I don't think the sand blaster will touch it. did you try a heat gun??

sounds like it may be easier to get another hood lol
:chug:

Well what i wanted to do was use the axles from under the Golden Eagle because it runs and drives completely perfect but the tub is shot as well as the frame so i just wanted the axles and the front clip (im not going to use the front clip off the Golden Eagle Im using it off the Doner) i just want to keep the other front clip as a spare or build another Jeep. i think a torch is the best approach but keep the ideas coming!!! Thanks

well i found out like two weeks ago that paint thinner and a pressure washer is the best way to go took the undercoat right off my axles and other suspension components
