I'm getting ready to bolt the tub back on the frame of my 75 CJ5 and I've got some questions. When I got it, it had a 2" body lift on it with poly bushings. I really don't want 2" of lift, so I decided to try cutting the lift blocks down to 1", which worked just fine. The poly bushings are in good shape, so I'm going to re-use those, but I've got a few questions.

I just sorted all the lift blocks, bushings and bolts out. The bolts that the PO had used are all 3/8" dia. and the holes thru the lift blocks and bushings are 1/2" dia. Should there be a sleeve installed or can I just use 1/2" dia bolts?

There are 2 bushings per mounting point. Does anyone know the order that the bushings and lift blocks go? Near as I can tell from the pics I took when I disassembled everything, the PO had a bushing on the bottom and top with the lift block between. I'm not sure this is right. I would guess that one bushing should go on the underside of the frame bracket, one on top and then the lift block tight to the underside of the tub.

Any help (or better yet, pictures) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bill :chug:

If you have 1/2 inch holes you want to fill the hole. Instead of using sleeves I say use 1/2" bolts. Stronger and it won't have slop in the holes.

Busa - Thanks for the info and the photo.

I got 1/2" grade 8 bolts and based on your picture, mine looks like this -
Thanks again, Bill :chug:
