Buying a cj

I have been looking for a CJ5 for a while and think I might have found one I can work with. It is a 78 cj5 with a plow on front. The guy said new exhaust and brakes have been redone.

What things should I look for before buying?

I also saw a 74 cj5 for sale that supposedly has a running motor but the frame and body is rusted out.

Do parts from a 74 and 78 match up if I bought the 74 for replacement parts?

I am new to jeeps I know just enough to be dangerous.
