Hey everyone,
My sons and I are putting together a 360 for the CJ7 .
I'm looking for a cam setup that promotes low end torque.
Has anyone reading this rebuilt a 360 and been HAPPY with their cam choice?

The last engine I thoroughly rebuilt was my AMC 304 , back in 1988. I was a bit younger and dumber then, and wanted some lope to the engine. So I got a cam that gave me lope, but sacrificed in the low end rpm band.

Send me some recommendations.... PLEASE!!!

thanks very much
brian

I got no recomendations but how did that block work out?

@Jimbo....block worked out good. they went .030 with it. Hoped to just have it honed but .030 works for me! To be honest, the other block that they bored .040 and wanted to go to .060 "looked" clean at .040.... They asked me if I wanted them to throw it on the scrap heap.... I said "NO" and took it with me.... lol

@incommando... thanks, I'll check out those links now..

I actually have the 10-214-5 in my 360 but I can't recommended it as I have yet to drive it.Used the 8600 in a 360 FSJ maybe 20 years ago and liked it.

A lot of guys run the 8600 and like it. I'm told, though I have no experience with them, that the Comp Cams cams are a little better in the low end where the 8600 is a little better in the mid to higher RPMs.

I did a little reading on the AMC site, and saw a lot of recommendations of the performer series. Looks like they are geared towards power from 1000 rpm and up... I like the lower rpm band they advertise.

A rebuilder friend of mine in Alaska told me to keep the duration as close to stock as possible for low end torque, and maybe bump up the lift a little from stock to give it a little more kick.

That Edelbrock cam is more geared towards the AMC 304 but you'll get plenty of good torque from it in a 360. But make sure you get the performer and not the performer RPM. The RPM cam is really aggressive for top end power.
