Can I get your opinion on this CJ?

That is correct. I am looking nationwide for a jeep. Primarily been looking in the south west to avoid the rust issue but this one just looked so nice and surprisingly clean.

Does anyone notice anything modified on the jeep that I should ask about or that you could point out? I would really like one that is as close to stock as possible and from what I can tell this one looks pretty close. (when I get to the point of restoration I am going the route of fresh off the factory floor.)

Im thinking about going ahead and finding someone to go take a look at the jeep for me before I go out there. Ill find a local jeep mechanic i can pay to take a look at it OR is there anyone on here near evergreen colorado who would want to go take a look at it for fun and let me know what you think? Just please dont buy it out from under me! lol

That looks like a fairly unmolested base model 7. Looks like someone tossed in a Laredo seat on the drivers side but the only thing market I really see is the center console.

...

3k?! I shipped my jeep from Mobile, AL to my door Harleysville, PA for a little under 900 bucks. Check out Uship and post a want add on there shippers will bid for your business.

I see your point but California is almost 2.5 times as far and I'll have to get myself back to Pennsylvania too. The cost doesn't make this a practical proposition, but if I treat it like an adventure vacation the extra fun might be worth it.

My biggest concern is that the western stuff that I see advertized so nicely turns out to be the same junk sold by the same sort of flakes that I can find close to home.

If you would like someone to go look at it for you I would be willing to do it. I could go look at it on Sunday let me know.

Nice Jeep, and the price is right, but driving it back home seems a bit risky. I wouldn't want to drive a unproven vehicle hundreds of miles. I say rent a flat bed trailer, drive out there, and tow it back. It maybe more expensive up front, but it's better than having a wheel fall off from a bad ball joint at 60 mph. Just my two cents!

^x2!

I think a lot of us really love the adventure vacation idea but jzak said it right. You have no idea what has been done or is going on with a 30 year old vehicle. Everyone I know of that has collected / purchased older cars has had them shipped.

Agreed. It looks like a really nice find, but it shouldn't come home with you under its own power.

Your well-being is worth more than the satisfaction of that rig getting into your garage on its own from Colorado.

Well the guy has a sale pending the emissions test..... looks like my search continues

Which one of you guys scooped it up !

I worry about that scenario too, dasfzero.

I know I can get some good advice here, but there is the dilemma of revealing too much.

My paranoia allows me to also imagine that the advice I'm getting here might actually be coming from the guy who's doing the selling.

That's pretty paranoid, dude! If someone is giving you advice that goes against what everyone else is telling you on the forum, then maybe just don't listen to him.

What kind of seller has the time to search dozens of Jeep forums to find any mention of their vehicle, and then give them bad advice? Does he work for the NSA? :)
