car alarm?

As my build comes to the end I keep thinking about security.

Years ago I owned a CJ7 and the day I got it back with a new paint job some scum bag broke in to steal a set of 10 year old speakers.
This new jeep build i've added 3 Tuffy boxes and a hood lock.

But just the other day my neighbor had his tires lifted off his car and believe it or not we live in a good neighborhood.

So I want an alarm system but it does little good if they don't open the door and just start taking parts off if it.

Does anyone know of a motion alarm that transmits via radio to a pager I can keep in my house.

I want it to be silent because I know wind storms tend to set the motion ones off a lot and I don't want to annoy the neighbors.
Also I want to catch the little bugger's and not just scare them down the road.

I'd be willing and able to build it myself with instructions.

I don't have any first hand exp with alarm systems but a quick search gave up a slew of options from simple motion sensing/horn honking to gps and remote disabling. I guess it depends on how much you want to spend. Some of those high end options cost more than my stated value insurance.

mechanical devices will probably provide enough deterrent to keep the tires on it and prevent it from rolling away, after that install a ravelco and ur good to go.

I tried one of the alarms that apparently were made in China. The price was right but the scrambled directions and mis color coded wiring made it a nightmare. If you wind up buying an alarm go with a quality known brand.

I have a Viper Alarm installed on my 2002 Chevy Blazer. It's an older version of this one: Viper LCD 2-Way Remote Start System

Works up to 1 mile. Never tried it at that distance, but I can state that it will start, lock/unlock my vehicle from at least 1/2 mile away. Check it out.
