I have an 86 CJ7 with the Weber (11046). I believe its in need of a rebuild, and its not something that would hurt either way obviously... is this something i should pay someone to do or do myself? I do have a good amount of mechanical experience but very little to none with carbs

I just rebuilt my first carb a few weeks ago and it was not too bad. Go to the auto parts store and get a rebuild kit and a carb cleaning kit (it's a bucket of carb cleaner with a dipping basket). Use the below links:

http://street2mud.com/webfiles/MC-2100 set up for a 258.pdf

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/pdf_documents/motorcraft_2150_carb.pdf

The key to the process is organization. I labeled all parts on an old towel and followed these links step by step.

If I knew how to post a link to my thread, I would! Search for carb rebuild and you will find a bunch of info.

Good luck!

Umm - please don't use those PDF's for your carb! You'll be a little sorry!

BTW - Our 'Documents' section has those PDF's also if needed... :)
