I might have a good deal on a carpet for a CJ7 ; however, I have a 5. Can you cut a CJ7 carpet down to fit a 5?

Carpet Answer

The carpet comes in 2 sections. A CJ7 rear section definitely won't work in a CJ5 . It's too big but I would think you can cut it down. (better too big than too small)
The front section may work for the front.

I think you are going to have some issues if you are looking for a clean install.

Depending on your kit, you could have 5 separate pieces of carpet to install.

The main problem I see is that you are going to have to cut through the finished edging. That might be fine for you and if so, cool.

The next issue I see is the molded front portion. I have a feeling that too is not going to fit right and you are going to have raised portions that don't sit well. Again, that might be just fine for you.

If you are getting it for next to nothing, then I guess it won't hurt to try?

I appreciate the help and especially the pics. Im not too worried about finished edges since I will be putting in a small speaker system that will cover anything I have to cut.

The back part should be easy, I am still unsure about the front. I really dont know how much of a difference the front of a CJ5 is to a CJ7 . Obviously the door opening is different, but how does that translate to the floor?
