I have had problem after problem just getting my cj road worthy. I had tons of engine mistakes and mis torqued steering components. It was jumping lanes and steering all crazy. I did everything i knew. Replaced all steering components up to ball joints. An absolutely awesome member, Old Dog, agreed to come down and look. He checked ball joints, bearings etc... Couldnt find the problem. He then got out a gauge to measure caster. Mine was at zero. We saw that the po put the wedges in backwards on the springs. We reversed and i can now drive one handed. Paul, thank you!!!!!!!!

Way to go, Old Dog, and Germy got a lesson in alignment. I have also got quite a bit out of the forums.

Glad yall got it figured out!:notworthy:

If anyone is near my location, and need help taking your CJ down to an unrecognizable state of bits and pieces, give me a shout!:chug:

Really cool he did it! He hit a deer with his ram on the highway on the way and limped all the way here. He is now missing some minor front end components and has a ton of fur if anyone wants to make a sweater

Just got off phone with cj, very nice of him to call and congratulate! I am going for a drive this evening with the girl, been waiting for over a year! Thanks everybody!

Replaced the 2* to 4 * shim. Seems to handle even better!

could you take some after pick of the shims (installed)? I got some as a gift from a fellow jeeper and am not 100% on exactly how the should be installed and what it SHOULD look like after.

Chances are i dont need them. Got a measure last week and it read +4 so im probably ok. Going to remeasure next week and reconsider adding shims after that. I want to pick up a better measure this time.

Thick part of wedge facing front with machined side down. Used steel, my aluminum ones that were replaced were warped and pancaked.
