CJ Doors......

Being new to the Jeep brand, I am not sure what half doors will fit on my 1976 CJ7 . I currently do not have any doors and do not want full doors, seeing how my Jeep is used for trails and mud only. I really want to purchase half doors, do not really care if they are steel or soft doors. Someone on another board said wrangler doors will fit, but never seemed sure. I know the latch mechanism is going to be different, which is no problem at all, just simple fabrication. Most importantly can someone tell me for sure which jeep half doors will fit my 76 cj7? From what I understand, you are correct. The only difference in the Cj and Wrangler doors is the latching mechanism. So you should be able to use them on your CJ.
Just make sure to get the correct/matching latch for the doors. Then as you said, simple fabrication will get them installed.

Because the tub of the YJ and the CJ are almost identical, any year YJ door will fit on a CJ7 . But the 76-81 doors had a different latch mechanism. You'll need a set of this type of door strikers to make the YJ half doors fit.

The person on the other board is correct the Wranger doors will fit a CJ. Your '76 CJ uses a rotary door handle.



A Wrangler uses a paddle handle. In order to use Wrangler half doors on you CJ you will need to change the latching mechanisim on your CJ.

You will need this to use YJ Half doors


Morris 4X4 has soft doors available for your CJ

What a great feeling, I posted on the board and not only got a answer fast, but got a answer fast and valuable information,lol. I think because a new guy/gal post sometimes, he or she loses out on learning things pending on what site your on.
